Chapter 2 - January 3-26, 1861: The Secession of Georgia Dispatches

The second chapter in the Army Official Records series details early war events surrounding the secession of the state of Georgia. The Georgia Convention voted to leave the Union on January 19, 1861 and became the 5th state to leave. A delegation participated in the Montgomery Convention in February 1861 and Georgia joined the Confederate States thereafter.

These dispatches were compiled with primary source materials from The War of the Rebellion: A Compilation of Official Records of the Union and Confederate Armies (Chapter 2)
