Battle of Gettysburg, Pennsylvania
- June 10, 1864 - Transferred to the 2nd Wisconsin Infantry - Independent Battalion / Company B
- November 30, 1864 - Transferred to the 6th Wisconsin Infantry / Company H
- December 20, 1864 - Mustered out of federal service when term expired
Postwar Career
- After the war, lived in Sauk County, Wisconsin
- April 21, 1879 - Applied for a pension (Application #281,010)
- 1905 - Died
- Buried at Rock Hill Cemetery, Town of Baraboo, Sauk County, Wisconsin
- May 15, 1905 - After John died, his wife applied for a pension from Wisconsin (Application #828,131)
