- August 20, 1862 - Re-enlisted in the 12th Wisconsin (Independent) Light Artillery Battery
Death and Burial
- February 5, 1864 - Died of disease in Huntsville, Madison County, Alabama
- Buried in Chattanooga National Cemetery, Chattanooga, Tennessee (Gravesite #I-9456)
- There is also a marker at Oak Hill Cemetery, Janesville, Wisconsin
- After Ambrose died, his parents applied for a pension
- July 5, 1864 - His mother applied (Application #56,368)
- September 9, 1867 - His father applied (Application #152,174)
