- Union troops under Major General Frederick Steele launch a strategic spring offensive from the Arsenal at Little Rock to Camden in Ouachita County, Arkansas from March 23-May 3, 1864. The expedition is an utter failure for the Union troops, who abandon the uncompleted objectives and retreat back to Little Rock.
