Jump to navigationJump to searchThe Department of Arkansas was a Union Military Department created on January 6, 1864 to consist of all of Arkansas except for Fort Smith. Fort Smith and the Indian Territory were added on April 17, 1864. It was embraced by the Military Division of West Mississippi on May 7, 1864.
