Regimental History and Service Record
Organized at Lancaster, Ohio, April 20, 1861. Moved to Benwood, Ohio, thence to Parkersburg, W. Va., April 20-23. Attached to Rosecrans' Brigade, W. Va., to July, 1861. 2nd Brigade, Army of Occupation, West Virginia, to August, 1861.
SERVICE.--Railroad guard duty and operating against guerrillas in Jackson County until July. (2 Companies garrison Ravenswood until July 10.) Skirmish at Glenville July 7.

The West Virginia Campaign
Regiment concentrated at Buckhannon. Expedition to Button July 15-20. Duty at Button until August 3. Left front for Zanesville, Ohio, August 3. Mustered out August 15, 1861.
