Jump to navigationJump to searchThe Department of the Gulf was a Union Military Department constituted on February 23, 1862 to comprise of all of the coast of the Gulf of Mexico, and the portions of the Gulf as may be occupied by U.S. forces. It remained relatively unchanged throughout the course of the war.
