Regimental History and Service Record

Organized at Rochester, N.Y., and mustered in October 4-22, 1864. (Co. "A" organized as Co. "E," 183rd New York Infantry, and mustered in at Elmira, N.Y., September 24, 1864.) Left State under orders to Join Army of the Potomac in the field October 13, 1864. Attached to 2nd Brigade, 1st Division, 5th Army Corps, Army of the Potomac, October, 1864, to July, 1865.

SERVICE.-- Siege of Petersburg, Va., October 20, 1864, to April 2, 1865. Boydton Plank Road, Hatcher's Run, October 27-28, 1864. Warren's Raid on Weldon Railroad December 7-12. Dabney's Mills, Hatcher's Run, February 5-7. 1865. Hatcher's Run March 25. Appomattox Campaign March 28-April 9. Lewis Farm, near Gravelly Run, March 29. Junction of Boydton and Quaker Roads March 29. White Oak Road March 31. Five Forks April 1. Fall of Petersburg April 2. Pursuit of Lee April 3-9. Appomattox Court House April 9. Surrender of Lee and his army. March to Washington, D.C., May 1-12. Grand Review May 23. Duty at Washington until July. Mustered out July 1, 1865.

Regiment lost during service 9 Officers and 36 Enlisted men killed and mortally wounded and 53 Enlisted men by disease. Total 90
