- The Battle of Savage's Station took place on June 29, 1862, in Henrico County, Virginia, as the third of the Seven Days Battles
of the the Peninsula Campaign
. Confederate Brigadier General John B. Magruder strikes at Edward Sumner's II Corps rearguard of the retreating Union army. Union forces continue to withdraw across White Oak Swamp, abandoning supplies and more than 2,500 wounded soldiers in a field hospital.
