- Confederate General "Stonewall" Jackson attacks a Union column as it marches past Brawner's Farm near Gainesville in Prince William County, Virginia on August 28, 1862. The Indiana and Wisconsin troops holding off the main Confederate attack for the bulk of the action are forever after known as the Iron Brigade.
