Jump to navigationJump to searchThe Department of the Rappahannock was a Union Military Department constituted on April 4, 1862 to consist of Virginia eas of the Blue Ridge Mountains and West of the Potomac River. It also included the Fredericksburg and Richmond Railroad, Washington, D.C., and the county between to Potomac and Pawtuxet Rivers. It was merged into the Army of Virginia on June 26, 1862.
