Department of Kansas

Jump to navigationJump to searchThe Department of Kansas was a Union Military Department created on November 9, 1861 to consist of the state of Kansas, the Indian Territory, and the territories of Nebraska, Colorado, and Dakota. It was merged (and afterwards reformed) into different departments three times during the war, first into the Department of Mississippi and then twice into the Department of Missouri.
