- The book says they were initially attached to the 7th Ala. Infantry, and were armed with sabres and Colt Navy pistols. In April or May of 1863, the company was finally assigned to a Cav. regiment, and from then on was known as Co."H", James H. Hagood's 3rd Ala. Cav., Gen Wm. Allen's Brigade, Gen. Joe Wheeler's Cav. Corps.(later Joe Robins of Wilcox was commissioned Colonel of the Regiment). At this time it says; "Our arms consisted of pistols and clumsy muskets. sabres were abandoned as a useless weapon to carry with Enfield "Artillery."
- All of the members of the original Prattville Dragoons did not go with the unit to the 3rd Alabama Cavalry. About a dozen, including 3rd Lt. Adam Felder and Clinton Thompson went to Co. K, 53rd Alabama Cavalry. Felder became Captain of Co. K, and Thompson was killed at Thompson's Station, TN on March 3, 1865 while serving with the 53rd.
- The company was also reorganized with the following changes:
1. James M. Hill, Captain. 2. Wilbur F. Mims, 1st Lt(later Capt.). 3. Robt.M.Mims, 2nd Lt. 4. Robt.M.Moncrief, 2nd Lt.. 5. Shadrach Mims, 3rd. Lt..
