- August 26, 1862 - Organized with 6 companies by the increase of (Bayliss') Louisiana Cavalry Battalion (Partisan Rangers) at Monroe
- November 1862 - Consolidated with four independent companies and re-designated as (Pargoud's) 3rd Louisiana Cavalry
- February 10, 1863 - Skirmish at Lake Providence
- February 1863 - Lieutenant Colonel Chambliss refused to comply and the battalion was restored to its official independent status
- May 10, 1863 - Skirmishes at Caledonia and Pin Hook
- June 9, 1863 - Lake Providence
- February 20, 1864 - Unit merged into the 5th Louisiana Cavalry
