The Chickamauga Campaign was a series of military engagements from August 16-September 22, 1863 in the vicinity of the intersection of Tennessee, Alabama, and Georgia. Following the success of his Tullahoma Campaign, Union commander William Rosencrans begins to move his army into northwestern Georgia. After initially gaining momentum in the early days of the campaign, the Confederate forces under Braxton Bragg rally and drive the invading Union troops back to Chattanooga, Tennessee, where a month long siege begins.
