The Bayou Teche Campaign was a brief series of military engagements in Bayou Teche in Louisiana. Union commander Nathaniel P. Banks, headquartered near New Orleans, endeavored to drive back the Confederate forces in western Louisiana and secure a route to connect with the Mississippi River north of Confederate-held Port Hudson. The campaign lasted from April 11-20, 1863.
