Units from Kentucky (Confederate)
Although residents of Kentucky primarily served in Union forces, Confederate armies often made incursions into its borders. In addition to fielding several regular units' worth of troops, Confederate armies attempted to recruit additional troops during these occupations. Army clerks often placed these recruits into newly formed units for which record-keeping was spotty and inconsistent. Many of these troops became militia units, or never returned to Confederate lines.
