Engagement at Oak Grove, Virginia - General George B. McClellan attempts to advance his lines forward to bring his siege guns within range of the city of Richmond during The Peninsula Campaign. As McClellan approaches the capital, Confederate General Benjamin Huger prepares a defensive position and repulses two Union attacks across White Oak Swamp. This engagement on June 25, 1862 sets the stage for Robert E. Lee's seven day counteroffensive, referred to in modern times as The Seven Days Battles before Richmond, Virginia.
