Regimental History and Service Record

  • June 1861 - Organized with 4 companies
    • ? - Mustered into Confederate service
  • October 3, 1861 - Greenbriar River
  • December 13, 1861 - Camp Alleghany, West Virginia
  • May 1, 1862 - Merged into 25th Virginia Infantry by order of Brigadier General Edward John
  • November 4, 1862 - Consolidation declared illegal by the War Department
    • Lieutenant Colonel Hansborough ordered to reorganize the battalion per Adjutant and Inspector General's Office / Special Order #258
  • February 28, 1863 - Order revoked after Lieutenant Colonel Hansborough failed to comply
    • Merger confirmed per Adjutant and Inspector General's Office / Special Order #50
