Regimental History and Service Record

Organized at Peoria, Ill., and mustered in August 27, 1862. Moved to Louisville, Ky., September 6, 1862. Attached to 36th Brigade, 11th Division, Army of the Ohio, to October, 1862. 36th Brigade, 11th Division, 3rd Army Corps, Army of the Ohio, to November, 1862. 2nd Brigade, 4th Division, Centre 14th Army Corps, Army of the Cumberland, to January, 1863. 2nd Brigade, 4th Division, 14th Army Corps, Army of the Cumberland, to June, 1863. 2nd Brigade, 2nd Division, Reserve Corps, Army of the Cumberland, to October, 1863. 3rd Brigade, 2nd Division, 14th Army Corps, Army of the Cumberland and Army of Georgia, to June, 1865.

SERVICE.--Pursuit of Bragg into Kentucky October 1-16, 1862.

March to Nashville, Tenn., October 16-November 7. Post duty at Nashville until March, 1863. Conduct ammunition trains to Army of the Cumberland at Stone's River December 28, 1862-January 2, 1863. Battle of Stone's River January 3, 1863. Expedition to Franklin March 9. At Brentwood until June 5, and at Murfreesboro until July 15. At Nashville, Tenn., until August 20.
