Regimental History and Service Record

Organized at New York City and mustered in April 23, 1861. Left State for Newport News, Va., May 24, 1861. Attached to Newport News, Va., Dept. of Virginia, to May, 1862. 1st Brigade, 1st Division, 2nd Army Corps, Army of the Potomac, to May, 1863.

SERVICE.--

Moved to Harper's Ferry, W. Va., September 22, and duty there until October 30. Reconnaissance to Charlestown October 16-17. Advance up Loudoun Valley and movement to Falmouth October 30-November 17. Battle of Fredericksburg December 12-15. "Mud March" January 20-24, 1863. At Falmouth until April 27.
